Booksamillion.com is an easy to use and money saving website, especially if you are interested, as I am, in various Audio Books that I listen to while commuting.
One the plus side:
The site is quite easy to navigate, the categories are simply and logically organized and the check-out process is straight forward and allows for multiple shipping addresses. The prices, especially for books on tape or CDs are VERY competitive and average about 30% of the full retail list prices for most of the items that they offer. This last item leads us to the other side of the coin.
On the other side:
Their selection is QUITE limited, especially in the Audio CD Books section. I have been and continue to be able to find items I want to listen to on their site, but the limitations of their available stock is immediately evident in the first browse. I infer that they specialize in buying up closed-out lots of books, tapes and CDs and then retailing them at closeout prices. It is not a good site to shop for or expect to find current best sellers or the newest releases. Their Free Shipping ( requiring a minimum purchase of $39.)is pretty slow, but since there is always something to listen to or read in the meantime, why not take advantage of it? If you ARE in a hurry, quicker shipping options are available.
I have just ordered another 3 books on CD that would retail for nearly $117. I paid $44.
So, they are well worth a browse or two - and if they have something you want, you will be hard pressed to find a better price.
