The Bottom Line Barnes & Noble.com has made many of my gift-giving decisions easier, and I always end up with a book or two for me!

My favorite type of gift I enjoy giving to people I care about are books. I always try to find a subject that I know is near and dear to the person for whom I am shopping.
I love travel books, especially coffee table books, with beautiful glossy photographs of places that I have either visited, dream about revisiting, or want to go to for the first time.
I have a beautiful Barnes & Noble store five minutes from my house. It is fine for the newest best-seller, which usually doesn't stay on the shelf very long. However, I have found that more often than not, the books I choose to give as gifts, or those coffee table books that I want to keep out to enjoy at home, are often damaged, dog-eared, ripped, or stained. It seems that having a Starbucks coffee shop in the store, while making it convenient for shoppers to just sit and read and drink their coffee, not buying the books, often takes a terrible toll on the books themselves.
I love shopping from the Barnes & Noble website. The books arrive factory-fresh, as they should! I enjoy just scrolling through their different categories, getting wonderful ideas about new books both for myself and to give as gifts.
The selection offered in any given category is incredibly more varied than could possibly be displayed in any store. I have found out about so many wonderful books from this site. Their inventory is excellent, and they almost always have the book I am looking for available for immediate delivery.
The only disappointment in the site is that I wish they would be more descriptive about the books. There is usually only a sentence describing many of the books, unless they are a best-seller or an Oprah pick.
Most of the books on the site are discounted slightly off of the cost of the books in the store, and the last few weeks, they have offered a special promotion which provided free delivery if two books or more are purchased.
They previously have offered many on-line coupons, but I have not noticed any in quite a few months. They usually provide coupons and specials as it gets closer to the holiday gift-giving season.
Another nice feature is that they will gift-wrap and send the book or books, a nice feature if you are giving it to someone out of town. Of course, they will also include a card
Overall, I have been very satisfied with my shopping experiences with Barnes & Noble.com and will continue using it often.
