Amazon.com is more than just an online book seller. It is an electronics store, movie store (with both VHS and DVD movies), a tool store, music store and even a place to buy beauty products. I have been shopping at Amazon.com for almost 2 years now and am proud to say that they are truly an amazing online retailer.
I have purchased books, movies and music from this online retailer and have been very satisfied with not only the price I had to pay, but also they have great delivery. They have earned my confidence as a consumer. They have a proven track record as a reputable and reliable source for your online shopping.
Amazon.com The Site
Amazon.com site is fairly simple to maneuver through. Each group of products has their own link. This is very easy for you to see all the specials, sales and detailed description of what you can find in that category. The site is divided into different categories each having a tab at the top of the page for you to see. Each category is divided into many smaller sub-categories. They also offer a great search capability if you know the exact product you are looking for.
If you have never shopped on Amazon.com you can check out their site guide to help familiarize yourself with the way the site is set up. They also offer a help guide for any questions you may have about the site itself. I have used them both and am happy to say that I found answers to all of my questions.
Membership
This is the easiest part of shopping at Amazon.com. There is no membership fee and you are only required to give the information that you want them to have about you. They use that information so that when you go to a certain section such as books or music, that page will show you things that may interest you that are new or on sale. I did all of my Christmas shopping last year on Amazon.com and felt very comfortable using my credit card. They encrypt all of your personal information and when you get ready to use your credit card they use the latest in SSL (Secure Socket Layers) software for all of your transactions.
The Fun Stuff
One part of Amazon.com that I used last Christmas was the wish list. You can go in and set up your wish list so that others can purchase for you from your wish list so that you receive exactly what you want. My family does not live close to my husband and I so they used this creative way to do Christmas shopping for us also. Each of my children made a wish list and I just purchased directly from those list. Another fun part of being a member of Amazon.com is that you will have access to many special sales, e-cards and auctions through Amazon.com. Another thing I really like is that if you are looking for a particular book or movie title Amazon.com will notify you if you request them to when that item is being released so that you can pre-order your copy.
Shopping
This is the easiest part of the site. You have a virtual cart with you and as you begin to select items they are put into your shopping cart. Once you are finished shopping it is time to check-out. At the check out you are given the option of buying all of your items or you may delete some that you decided that you really don’t want to purchase. All of this is done by simply un-checking a box if you don’t want to purchase that item. If you have shopped previously at Amazon.com all you will need to do is choose your method of delivery and you are ready to go. If not you will have to give your credit or debit card information at this point and choose your shipping. If you are using a gift certificate you will need the number to enter at the check out area. I have used many gift certificates here and have no problems at all.
Any shipping that I have done through Amazon.com has been delivered by UPS. You can choose to have your items shipped at the standard rate, UPS 2 day air or UPS Next Day Air. Of course the price of each of these vary depending on what you are purchasing. I didn’t have problems at Christmas, because if you purchased a $100 or more you were given free shipping. I made sure that I purchased that amount when ordering so that I didn’t have to pay shipping. This was great for Christmas since I was having so many things shipped at once. That is the only time I have seen them offer a no shipping fee, but the normal shipping fees are not that costly.
Amazon.com Customer Service
I could give you many reasons for shopping at this online retailer, but one of the main reasons I have stuck with them has been their great customer service. I purchased a 19-inch television from them this past Christmas for my son. I received the television in record time and I had one happy son on Christmas morning. Around the first of February we began to have problems with the television and of course I was worried about how difficult it would be to get them to exchange and what it would cost me to have it shipped to them. To my surprise when I called customer service, they immediately offered to ship me a brand new television to my home. They also told me included in that box would be a return shipping label postage paid to return the television in that we were having problems with. Within a week my son had a new television and we had shipped the other one back to amazon. During that week we waited they emailed me to let me know when the television was shipped and when I could expect it delivered to my door. They kept in contact to make sure that the new product was delivered and working properly. Each and every email I received from Amazon.com was polite and informative. I have to say that the television we received is still working great today with no further problems. I count customer service as a very important part of any place that I do business with and Amazon.com proved that they have that part of business down to a fine art.
My Thoughts
If you haven’t tried Amazon.com you should. It is a great place to shop and I have yet to look for music or a book title that I couldn’t find. The television that we bought through them was a name brand that we had checked prices on at many stores near our home. No one could match the price we got on Amazon.com! I am one of those people who like to window shop and I do that all the time at Amazon.com. I visit and check on the newest things being released. All of my experiences with this online retailer have been great!
