Pros: Fast working, no smelly collars
Cons: Have to repeat monthly, could they make a once yearly one?
The Bottom Line: I like the idea of applying the drops once a month over those horrible, dangerous flea collars!

| 2buzy's Full Review: Advantage Flea Killer for Cats |
We have used Advantage Flea Killer for Cats for the last few years. Our cats are all four different breeds that range from purebread Russian Blue and Norwegian Forrest to a mixed breed of the two to a well, we don't have a clue what Magoo is! They also range between 9 years and 5 months in age, some have long hair and some short and Advantage Flea Killer for Cats works on all of them!
CATS AND FLEAS / FLEAS AND CATS
I am a cat person, I admit it. I have been one all my life. All through my baby-book I am seen holding my cats, both of us aging page after page. I had a dog too, a Husky who was actually in the family before my sister and I were born. She had to put her down when we were 17 and it took me 12 years before I could handle getting another dog! Anyway, I still have a cat and a Husky only they are now joined by 3 other cats and a Lab puppy that is going to be the death of me yet!
Our animals really have a great life! We have a lot of property for them to explore and since we are back over 1,000 feet from the road, they have no worries about being hit by a car. BUT, because they are outside -- in the grass, the woods and on the beach, as soon as the warm weather comes in, they pick up the dreaded FLEAS! These Fleas then stay around until the weather gets cold again and the ground gets it's first freeze.
Over the years we have tried sprays, collars and even shampoo but none of they worked all that well. Then we tried Advantage Flea Killer for Cats and have never had to worry about fleas again! This stuff is great -)
PURCHASING AND USING ADVANTAGE
You can purchase Advantage Flea Killer for Cats from your vet or online, as we now do. It is a bit expensive but will seem a lot more reasonable once you see the results!
Advantage Flea Killer for Cats comes in two "sizes" one for cats (over 8 weeks old) up to 9 pounds and the other for cats 10 pounds and up. It is sold in 4,6 and 12 month supplies. A 6 month supply for cats under 9 pounds will cost close to $10 a month. Obviously, the more months you buy, the less per month the cost becomes. Even so, a 12 month supply may not be the best deal if you only have 1 cat. The reason is that you may not need to use the product all 12 months as the fleas will die off after the first frost. Of course if you live where it never freezes, you may need to use it year-round, but otherwise, no.
To apply Advantage Flea Killer for Cats you must first screw off the top, turn it over and pierce open the applicator tip. Trust me, do this BEFORE getting your cat ready or you will end up with a loose cat and either an unopened applicator or a spilled one!
Now you need to hold your cat snuggly and part the fur at the base of the neck to expose the skin. Place the tip of the applicator on the exposed skin and squeeze out all of the contents of the tube.
It is A LOT harder to do this on cats with dense, short hair than on those with long hair. You really have to work to get to the skin and keep the area exposed long enough to get the application on. We have one cat like this and have found it just easier to use two people with her. Otherwise, this is an easy, one person job.
HOW ADVANTAGE WORKS
According to their information, Advantage Flea Killer for Cats starts giving relief from flea biting in just 3 to 5 minutes. Then, within 12 hours 98 to 100% of your cats fleas will be dead! That's it until 4 weeks later when you apply the next application. How cool is that?
In addition, your cat can be shampooed or spend time out in the rain or sunlight without dampening the results.
Advantage Flea Killer for Cats has only one active ingredient - Imidacloprid which is9.1 % of the product. This leaves 90.9% to Inert ingredients. All I know is that it works!
~~ ** ~~ ** ~~ 2BUZY'S FINAL THOUGHTS ~~ ** ~~ ** ~~
I LOVE my cats -- even Stinkerbell which isn't always easy -- but I HATE fleas so finding a product that keeps them flea free is a winner for me!
I use Advantage Flea Killer for Cats on my cats 6 months of the year as the temperature here gets cold enough the other 6 months. I usually buy two twelve month sets and divide it up among the four cats. I buy them a couple of months apart just to make sure the expiration dates aren't too close.
With Advantage Flea Killer for Cats I am able to get fast, amazing results every time -- hard to find any problems with that! I am giving it a solid 5 stars.
