Sniffle. Sniffle.

The Bottom Line Crying is very therapeutic. This is my 10 step therapy.

There are so many things that make me cry. I cry out of frustration, when something bad happens to someone I care about, and when someone I love dies. I cry when I am feeling powerless to change something. I cry when relationships don't work out. (even when I'm the dumper, not the dumpee).I cry when I'm really happy. Sometimes I even cry when I laugh really hard.

Yes, I am a champion crier. I didn't used to be like this, but I've found it to be quite therapeutic in relieving all the stress and anxiety that everyday life can create.

Here are my Top 10 favorite (therapeutic) tear-jerker movies:

The Bodyguard (What? Are those groans that I hear?)

Starring Kevin Costner, and Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston is a singing star that needs a bodyguard after her life has been threatened. Kevin Costner takes the job and they soon fall in love. But how can he protect her if he's not paying attention because he's in love with her?

The ending of this movie is very sad and gets me every time.

The Lion King

(Hey, don't laugh! Just because it's a Disney movie doesn't mean it has to make everyone laugh!)

Simba's father dies in an accident that Simba thinks is all his fault. He leaves the pride, makes some new really cool friends, and then bumps into his ex girlfriend lioness who pleads with him to return and take his place on the throne.

I'm sure you're wondering why I consider this movie to be such a tear jerker. Well, I'm sensitive, and when Simba's father dies, I cry. Also, the ending is such a happy one, that I cry again. Come on, Walt knew what he was doing here. Make it cute for the kids, and pull at the heartstrings of adults.

Beaches

Starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey

A story of best friends. They're always there for eachother. The reason I like this movie so much is that their friendship in the movie is so much like real life. The ending makes me weep, literally weep. After watching this movie I need to call my best friend pronto and tell her how much her friendship means to me.

I should warn you, this movie is a chick flick all the way. I do not know one male that enjoys this movie. So, if you are a male all full of testosterone you should probably consider watching something else on my list.

The Sixth Sense

Starring Haley Joel Osment, Bruce Willis, and Toni collette

This movie was freaky, funny, and sad. What a combination. For those who haven't seen this movie, and I bet there aren't a lot out there, this movie is a about a young boy that sees dead people walking around. The dead people don't know that they're dead, and they won't leave the poor boy alone. Bruce Willis plays Malcom, the psychiatrist.

There are 2 really sad parts in this movie. One is when the little boy finally tells his secret to his mother, and talks to her about talking to his grandma. The other part is at the end of the movie, but I'm not going to give that away just in case there's someone reading this that has not seen this movie.

Titanic

Starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet

I don't have to explain what this movie is about or why it's so sad. When a movie is made about a real life tragedy it's bound to be sad, especially if it's about something like this. The acting in this movie is very good and very convincing. I especially liked Kate Winslet as Rose. Her performance brought me to tears as well as Gloria Stewart's performance as the 101 year old Rose.

Pay it Forward

Starring Haley Joel Osment, Helen Hunt, and Kevin Spacey

A young boy's idea to change the world. If someone did you a favor, something really big that you couldn't do on your own, instead of repaying them, you would turn around and do 3 people really big favors, and then they would turn around and each pay that favor forward to 3 people. Once again, the end of this movie is terribly sad.

Legends of the Fall

Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Julia Ormond, Brad Pitt, Aidan Quinn, and Henry Thomas

The basic plot of this movie is that of one girl and three brothers that love her. The movie is set partially in Montana and partially on the WW1 battlefield. It seems like everything beautiful that these brothers touch, they destroy. The movie is full of tragedies and despair. If you think your love life is bad, watch this movie.

Untamed Heart

Starring Christian Slater, Marissa Tomei, and Rosie Perez

Caroline works in a diner and cannot seem to find true love. Adam works at the same diner and is an orphan with a bum heart. Instant romance. the movie runs along pretty happily, and then BAM! tear jerker ending. (sniff.)

The Green Mile

Starring Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, David Morse, James Cromwell, Michael Jeter, and Doug Hutchison

A Stephen King story about one man's life as a death row prison guard (Tom Hanks). Some extraordinary things start happening when John Coffey(Michael Clarke Duncan)is sentenced to death for the murder of 2 little girls, a crime in which he didn't commit. The terribly sad part of this movie is when they have to put John Coffey in the electric chair. I personally fell in love and awe with this character throughout the movie and cried my little eyes out in the end. This is a movie that will get to everybody.

City of Angels

Starring Meg Ryan, and Nicholas Cage

The story of an angel(Nicholas Cage) that wants to be human because he has an interest in a female doctor.(Meg Ryan) He shows himself to her and they fall in love. However, they can never be together because one is an angel, one is human. The end of this movie is what gets to me. It's like you've finally decided that everything is going to work out for these two and then Kapow! Tear jerker.

This is, however, one of my favorite movies, and if you haven't seen it, you should. It's not just a chick flick either. I know guys (yeah, more than one) that really like this movie.

There you have it. My top 10 tear jerker movies. If you're in the mood for a good cry, pick one of these 10 movies up. I guarantee sadness. Oh, make sure you have a big box of kleenex at your side, especially if you're going to watch 2 or more of these. You may want to consider a family size box.

Thanks for reading, and have a good day!
