After searching the web for some time now, one day I decided to go back to the more common on-line stores. I went to Amazon and ordered a book. In Amazon, this IS the #1 place to sell books, and they definately had just about every book anywhere around. Ordering was easy. The seller was fantastic! Absolutely no complaints.
The greatest thing about amazon is that they offer phone numbers to sellers as well as buyers, unlike their fatal competitor, Ebay. This has been by far the main reason Amazon customer satisfaction is at a all time high. To order off of Ebay is almost a gamble. To order off Amazon is guaranteed. Very few people have been unsatisfied with their performance.
So why am i writing this?
Because I began to sell on Amazon. Amazon has not been too upfront with their merchants. Apparently, since they do offer a money back guarantee called"A-Z" guarantee, anyone who buys from an amazon merchant can get their money back from Amazon themselves if they do not receive the merchandise. This has caused Amazon to question alot of new sellers with alot of inventory. After listing several hundred items on amazon, which is now in stock in my store ready to ship, Amazon popped up in the middle of the most important retail sales month and stated that they have to hold onto my funds for 30 days. BAD IDEA! I am no longer receiving any funds until after the holidays, because amazon does not trust my ability to deliver, even though I provided to Amazon everyday my traceable tracking numbers. To me, this is an outrage and I feel If Amazon has been burned in the past paying back customers for unshipped items, they need to take a different approach into signing up new sellers, instead of holding their funds for thirty days. Being in line with their rules and regulations, I decided I would stay "on-board" and keep my store running. Thirty days had passed, no money. After the fifty fourth (54th)day, I called Amazon and had to threaten them with a federal lawsuit. This is why I was finally paid. The same day I was paid, amazon decided my store was no longer needed. I was fine with that, until i realized amazon was giving customers refunds on products that were shipped. Some of the customers (2), did the right thing and repaid for the merchandise. Most kept the money and the product. Over $11,000.00 in sales and I collected less than $6,000.00. Yes, Amazon gave out over $5,000.00 from their "A-Z guarantee". Their personnel that was supposed to be running tracking information did NOTHING!
So, If you are a buyer, amazon is one of the premier on-line stores that accomodates nearly every customer. This rates five stars. I just wished they would accomodate the sellers and forewarn new sellers that before they decide to sell hundreds of items on their web-site, they might have to get involved with "merchant approval", the team that actually holds your funds. CAPITAL. This is the word to use when selling on Amazon. Have lots of it. Guarantee yourself that you can ship items without pay for a month, and you should be O.K. Pull your funds out of your bank account, (whether business or personal), just in case Amazon decides to pass out your money like free candy.
