I have ordered probably 30 to 40 times from Amazon.com and have noticed the following things:
*Buying used (or new) books from other merchants THROUGH Amazon is ALWAYS cheaper than buying directly from Amazon.
*Shipping is faster when buying from Amazon rather than THROUGH them from another merchant.
*I've purchased gardening items through Amazon from other merchants and have been incredibly displeased by the way it is impossible to cancel an order that way. The merchant says you have to cancel through Amazon, and their techs say you have to directly contact the merchant. Needless to say, I have several dead trees that should never have been sent this late in the year due to my inability to get anything worked out through Amazon.com.
*Amazon is THE place to find rare movies, books, antiques or anything else that is still out there.
*Amazon can and will match prices if you find the same item for less somewhere else. (I know, as I am always looking for a bargain!)
*Amazon has fairly good customer servie when dealing directly with them. Working THROUGH them, with other merchants, can be a pain.
*Shipping is fast, orders are always accurate, and if there is a problem, someone typically will try hard to work with you, when dealing directly with Amazon.
