Service just OK, prices not the lowest, obtuse review editors.

Amazon's big strength is its catalogue, which is easy to use and fairly complete. However, since I am interesting in somewhat esoteric subjects, I frequently have to resort to "advanced search", and even then often fail to find what I'm looking for. Only later, via another link, sometimes from another website, do I then sometimes find it in their catalogue.
Delivery speed is good when you pay for delivery, but is pretty slow when you use their "free" service for orders over $50.
I've had pretty good luck with order accuracy, never had to send anything back, but on several occasions I have had things on order, only to be told after several weeks that they were "no longer available", without further explanation.
I have had VERY good luck so far ordering used books from their used book service. Prompt delivery, books as advertised. I think they police this service pretty well.
I've never had to deal with customer service about a product, so I can't rate it.
I have noticed that they don't always have the best prices on new books, and I will probably stop using them for new books as a result. The "free" delivery doesn't always compensate for the higher price, but I haven't done enough buying from other sources to make a firm committment yet to avoiding Amazon based on price.
I have always found Amazon reviews to be interesting and informative, and for that reason started writing reviews for them. However, I'm not happy with their arbitrary and ignorant editorial practices, which is why I've joined Epinions.
