I love the store off-line and on-line. My on-line experience has been perfect. We live about a hundred miles from the nearest Barnes and Noble Bookstore and so we have had to rely on ordering our books on-line. We have never had a problem, the books arrive nicely packed and within a few days.
The on-line store is easy to navigate and every book I have viewed, the picture is clear and I can see what to expect. Often there are reviews and I have found them to be helpful. What I like about the reviews is that they are written by amateurs and not professionals who are hired to make the book look good.
You will know the number of pages, the diminsions and a summary. So, it isn't a hit or miss thing. You know what you are getting, how it will look and what other people have to say about it.
I can order the books from my home in my robe after I brew my own cup of Starbucks coffee. If my hair is less than perfect....who cares?......I can spend as much time as I want perusing the books and then I can decide what I want without feeling like I will lose my comfortable chair if I want to look at a few more (that is if the cat doesn't get my chair if I have to run to the kitchen for a second cup of coffee.)
I haven't had to deal with customer service as my order has always been right and the site accepts every credit card I have. So far, my experience with Barnes & Noble.com has been positive. As with anything, there is always the possibility things can go wrong but, so far, it hasn't happened to me.
