I have ordered many, many things from Amazon.com since 1997 when I first started ordering on line. Their website is fantastic, their service is great, and I can often find things there that I can't find any other way, mostly by using the marketplace. Pricing is a mixed bag, but free shipping for orders $25 and up helps a lot.
I have had 2 problems that they resolved quickly to my satisfaction. The first was when a search for "atomic" turned up a clock that I ordered but was actually not an atomic clock, just a preset clock. They let me return it with free shipping and no order penalty. (The return reduced my order to less than $25 and usually if you return part of an order and it reduces the order to less than $25 they will refund you minus the cost of shipping.) I eventually ordered an actual atomic clock from them, again with free shipping.
The second problem I had was with an order for the complete first six seasons of Friends, the 4th season set had a DVD that was actually from the 2nd season. (The second season set did not have a DVD from the 4th season, so it did not get swapped around.) They were unable to pull out just the one season from the order, so they had me send the entire 6 seasons back (with free shipping) and re-sent me the entire 6 seasons again, without making me wait for them to receive my return.
It's always nice when things go according to plan, but the true test for any company is how well they take care of things when their customers have problems and I have always had excellent service at Amazon.com. I keep that in mind when I shop on line.
