Amazon seems to work just fine, as long as everything goes smoothly with the order. However, if there is a problem, Amazon is very difficult to deal with. I purchased a digital camera on May 30, and am still waiting for my refund (the purchase was not completed because of problems with the seller). Amazon's policy is that it takes 2 to 3 weeks to process a refund. When I was told that a refund was initiated on June 4, I waited the three weeks (until June 25th) and when I failed to receive my refund notification, I emailed Amazon. This is the response that I got today:
"I have checked your account and note that Guarantee claim could not
be submitted successfully on June 04, 2004. I apologize for the
inconvenience.
I have again submitted an A-to-z Guarantee claim on your behalf
for "Canon EOS 6.3MP Digital Rebel Camera with Lens 18-55MM Lens"
(#058-5272546-9017961).
Guarantee claims generally take from 2-3 weeks to process; you'll
receive an e-mail notification when it is complete..."
So, it will now take another 2 to 3 weeks, and no explanation given. My suggestion to others: call your credit card company when an order is unable to be completed! It seems like Amazon (on purpose) makes you think that a refund is being processed, so you don't cancel with your credit card company. With this slow processing of refunds (potentially more than 6 weeks), I will now owe interest on the purchase price of the digital camera!
