Had a horrible experience that is enough to make me never order from Amazon again. I recently began college courses, and received my book list on April 12th. When I got home, I browsed online at Amazon and one of their competitors to find the fairest price on the various books, and ended up ordering half from each of the companies, based both on price and availability.
Every book I ordered from Amazon said max 3-4 days delivery. Two of the books I ordered from the other company said 2 weeks, but that was okay for the two books, since I wouldn't need them till next term anyway. But the books I ordered from Amazon were required reading 1 week into the course.
It's now May 15th (over a month later) and the only word I've heard from Amazon is the automated response they send to my e-mails. There is no way to phone them, no way to get in contact with a live person. I ended up sending them an email telling them to cancel the order, or I'm just going to send it straight back to them, if it should ever happen to get here.
I ordered the books from the other company yesterday, and have already received an e-mail telling me all the books are in stock and ready to ship on Monday.
I'll never again deal with Amazon. If they don't have the time of day to take for someone who ordered $500 worth of textbooks, needs them in a rush, and is being delayed a month, nor the customer service reps that care enough to add any humanity to their automated e-mails that tell you nothing (I received no apologies for delay, nor any explanations.)
