First I must tell you that I live in Croatia. My experiences are limited to amazon.com services which are available to international customers.
I have tried to use auctions and order a used item but it is not available internationally so I can't speak about that.
I am a customer on amazon.com for a few years and have ordered a lot of times, probably once a month for past two years. All my experiences with the site are positive.
I started by ordering books which were not available or which were considerably cheaper than in Croatia. Selection was excellent and it was very easy to find what I was looking for. Also, ordering was easy and intuitive. Since then service has greatly improved and now it is even possible to look inside books which you are about to order. Check out system has also improved much and now it is only one two screens to check out.
Now I order almost all of the entertainment items from amazon. All my movie collection (more than 80 DVD's) and most of my CD collection (more than 100 CD's) were bought on amazon.com. That is a lot of orders and I can say that I never had a bad experience. When I started buying a few years back, I had to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery and now I get my items in 11 to 18 days using standard shipping options.
Only once in the order was lost but when I notified amazon about it they sent me another shipment without charge which was commendable.
Recently I received a damaged DVD in Farscape season 1 boxed set. After notifying amazon about that damage I received a new boxed set which I didn't expect.
To conclude, I am very happy with services and selection at amazon and will continue to be their customer.
