Pros: Excellent performance for an SUV; sharp styling in and out; assembly quality Cons: Does not do SUV stuff well The Bottom Line: If I had to have an SUV, but didn't really need the off-road ability or cargo capacity of one, this would be it. But then I wouldn't need one.
A couple of years ago I drove and reviewed the 2000 model year 4.4 liter X5. This year I drove the base model, which shares an excellent 3.0 liter six with the Z3, 330, and 530. I wanted to see how the X5 rode on slightly higher profile tires, and how ...

Pros: Brings a new dimension to the SUV market - a driver's SUV Cons: Limited space for luggage compared with its peers The Bottom Line: BMW have a winner in this category and we are very pleased to own one.
A month ago I submitted a review on our 1992 Range Rover in which I stated that I would not trade it for a new Range Rover. At the time I didn't know much about the X5, but taking delivery of a new BMW 330Ci Convertible told me all I needed to know...

Update: May 5, 2003
After having this car for a little over a year I wanted to provide my impressions.
I still think it's a great car; however, I do plan on bringing it back to the dealer after the lease has ended and maybe get an MDX....

Pros: smooth, sporty, comfortable, luxury, power, roomy Cons: price The Bottom Line: The X5 is the best truck ever created!!!!
The new BMW 2002 X5 is definitely the best sports utility truck I have ever driven. As soon as you see it on the road or in someones driveway you automatically look because you like the way it looks. However, the best part of the X5 is the inside...

Pros: Amazing ride, 24 MPG Highway, Cold AC Cons: None really The Bottom Line: I would buy another vehicle like this and will probably when my 5 series gives out.
This is an amazing vehicle. The wife has the 3.0 and I never worry about her safety in it. It accelerates like a 3 series, even the 3.0 engine. It gets close to 24 miles the gallon on the highway, 18 in the city, and it rides so comfortably, I have to ...

I own the 2002 X5 4.4i in Silver with all the available options- sport package, TV, 19 inch wheels, etc.
I've always loved BMW for obvious reasons. It's the driver's car. It took me about four month to decide what car I wanted to buy. I've had lots...

Pros: Great in snow.
Looks nice.
Ride. Cons: Maintenance costs.
Air Suspension.
Fuel Mileage
The Bottom Line: BMW makes the finest cars in the world. Their SAVs are very good as long as one stays away from the air suspension.
My wife was teaching our youngest son to drive, using my 1990 Mercedes 300E. Second day of driving, he panicked and put my car into a tree, totaling it. I started looking for something I could get serviced locally. While looking a used Minis at the ...

Pros: Unreal Performance (for an SUV). Beautifully designed exterior and interior. Quality materials. Cons: Poor ergonomics. Climate control isn't user friendly. Gas mileage could be better. The Bottom Line: Pricey, but if performance and style are your priorities, you can't do better than the X5.
I had been driving a Toyota 4Runner for a few years and I was getting pretty tired of SUVs, so I tested just about everything out there in the mid-size category, including sedans like the new Infinity G35. I told myself that if I was ever going to buy a...
