Pros: Excellent picture quality, rich feature set, analog inputs, Memory Stick convenience Cons: Supplied battery does not last long
The Sony DCR-TRV38 adds a larger 3.5-inch LCD screen to the features of the Sony DCR-TRV33, giving you almost twice the viewing area of the 2.5-inch screen of the TRV38....
Pros: Excellent build quality, great video, 3.5 inch LCD, quiet, Carl Zeiss lens Cons: Supplied Battery life short, can't eject tape when on a tripod
Well, I've owned several camcorders in the last 2 years. It was first a Hi8 Sony, than a Digital 8 Sony TRV740, than a MiniDV Sony (The DCR-TRV25), and now the DCR-TRV38, one of the newest in Sony's excellent line of MiniDV camcorders. I work at the Best ...
Pros: Ease of use, large LCD panel, very good to excellent video quality and output options. Cons: Wind noise. The tape loading mechanism exposes internal parts and makes them susceptible to dust.
My decision to buy a SONY MINI DV camcorder was primarily influenced by two factors: 1) SONY's long history of producing excellent camcorders and 2) with MINI DV I could burn home videos on CDs and DVDs. This is my first camcorder. I did not have any p ...
Pros: High quality recording/playback, compact size, very easy to use, feature packed. Cons: Less than perfect low light performance.
When in the market for a new camcorder, Sony immediately came to mind. All my relatives had a Sony and Sony has always been my favorite for TVs. After taking a quick look at the competition, I decided Sony was the way to go. The next choice was which...
Pros: Easy to use, Large LCD Panel, Built in digital camera, Memory sticks for PIC storage. Cons: None as of yet.
After months of shopping around for a Mini-DV camcorder I purchased the Sony DCR-TRV38. I tested and even purchased several comparable models from JVC to Panasonic and still ended up back with the SONY TRV-38. One simple reason was the feel of the JVC &...
Pros: Excellent video quality, nice fit to your hand, large LCD, touch screen Cons: Lack of control buttons other than touch screen, low light quality
Overall I am very satisfied with the Sony TRV-38. I have owned Panosonics and JVC units, and the TRV-38 is by far the best unit I have used. The 10x zoom is a limitation of the Carl Zeiss lens, which is a good trade of quality over quantity. When ...
Pros: Easy to use
Great video indoor and outdoor
Free software Cons: I can't think of any yet
I received the Sony TRV 38 a week ago, this is my first camcorder and am very pleased with it. I am only using it to make videos and not still shots since I already own an Olympus digital camera.
Pros: Excellent picture quality
Digital photos are very nice
Has it all Cons: No complaints.
This is my 3rd Camcorder, after using panasonic and JVC, when i read Sony reviews, i took the TRV38. I wanted a camera that is simple to use and besides camcorder also give me still digital pictures, easy transferability to other media devices and TRV38 is just the right one.
I am not a technical expert, but for a regular camera user this is a perfect buy. The new Cams in 2004 model are the HC series from sony. Thought they are cheaper you gotta sacrifice certain things. The view handler is not movable a big handicap for me, but the TRV38 has it and its color too.
TRV38 is the only cam that has a 3.5 inch LCD which is a huge advantage according to me.
Its very handy and comes in the palm just fine, not like the newer models which are too small and hard to manager.
I just bought so have not used a lot of features, but picture quality is super and the still picture quality is hard to believe, its like any good digital camera.
Pros: Excellent video and sound quality. Easy to use. Best bang for your buck. Cons: Poor optical zoom(10x). Needs wide angle lens($100).
The Sony DCR-TRV38 is the best video camera you can get for that price. I have bought and returned several(4) video cameras because the video and or sound was not good enough. You can't really tell how good the camera is until you make a video and play it back on a big screen TV(61"). I love this camera. It takes great videos inside and outside. DVD quality videos. Its amazing. The sound quality is astounding too. The digital still pictures are good enough for email and are better than most video camera stills. It also can make videos that you can email too. Very easy to use with a PC. The night shot works very well in TOTAL darkness but the picture is green and white only. The 3.5" screen is great and resolution is the best. The pixels? on the LCD are very small that gives great detail. The supplied battery works well for about an hour is you don't use the 3.5" panel display.
