Pros: Will Hold It's Value, Stylish but not Ostentatious Cons: A Real One will Cost You More the Longer You Wait, Beware of Counterfeits!
Ive always wanted a nice timepiece to wear on my wrist and it just seemed that everyone around me wore a Rolex. A couple of my uncles and family friends had the solid gold Datejust President model watches, which Ive always thought were pretty ...

Pros: Understated Masterpiece Cons: Nothing
I first became aware of the Rolex Professional range some 20 years ago and always said one day I will buy one. If like me you were brought up to value money then the thought of spending £2,500 on a wristwatch is plain crazy! HOWEVER there comes a point ...

Tough Enough
by oldopions,Nov 15 '06
Pros: Tough Cons: I have not fond a con to owning this watch
My Wife bought my Rolex Explorer II in June of 1989 [17 years ago] to replace my old Zodiac Seawolf. I have worn my Explorer II almost every hour of the day since she bought it for me. I've had it cleaned and oiled twice and luminesence added once. Even though I am a field engineer and my Rolex sees a lot of wear and tear, my crystal is still scratch free and I still have the original bracelet. Watch keeps pretty good time - more modern watches keep better; but more modern watches will not stand up to every day work, hunting, fishing, etc.
Few watches could compare to my old Zodiac Seawolf that I wore for 12 years - but the Rolex matched it and surpassed it. For my needs, the Explorer II is he perfect watch.

Love It

Pros: Style, Versatility, Uniqueness. Cons: None
Your friend, his friend, and the dude walking next to you at the mall has the Submariner. The GMT II is very nice and I seriously considered buying it, but it still clobbers you over the head saying "ROLEX!!"
The Explorer II, on the other hand, is more subtle. It's classy. It's unique. You don't see everyone and their uncle wearing one. It's sporty and conservative at the same time, yet it is still a Rolex in every sense of the word.
I own the black-face and it's just as wearable with a suit or with jeans. It's a little slimmer than that GMT II so it fits better with dress shirts. It's my go-everywhere do-everything watch.
