Pros: easy to use, not too expensive, prints confirmation sheet without asking, warranty Cons: none
The requirement of basically any office now, is to have a fax machine. Not just any fax machine either, but one that can handle a large load of work, and can do so with ease. Nobody wants to waste time trying to figure out the fax machine, or spend ...
Pros: Sharp text at lowest settings, no curling, easy setup, connects to pc, junk faxes less. Cons: Paper jams occur when humidity is high.
The Brother Intellifax 2820 was bought to replace a Sharp fax that suddenly stopped feeding the paper. After looking online at various non-laser faxes which either received poor ratings or good ratings but had small ink cartridges, I decided that a ...
Pros: A full featured fax/copier in a small footprint. Reliable Brother quality with accessible support. Cons: None so far
Over 3 years ago I bought a Brother FAX 560 for light faxing duties (25 to 50 a month) in my home office. This was a very adequate fax machine and copier. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of jams that occured over the 3 year period. ...
Pros: None - Cons: Printed paper gets wadded up in narrow area where it's supposed to come out
I and my partners over the years have bought and used Brother fax machines in our offices. When my Intellifax 2800 finally wore out (nice machine - I had two), I went to Staples to find that the 2800 is no longer made but that there is now the 2820. ...
I bought this fax machine from Staples, and I bought the protection plan for $30. The machine worked great for 6 six months, then it just stopped working. So I hauled it back to Staples, they replaced it I paid another $30 for a new protection plan and ...
Great laser fax and a printer and copier too by tbuckley62,Aug 12 '05
Pros: laser fax, copier and printer; fast;quality and ease of use are good Cons: printer driver not in box, nothing about printing in manual;apparently won't support wireless printing
I bought the Brother 2820 after returning a Canon L80 when I discovered the Canon wouldn't support printing from a Mac. The Brother was easier to set up than the Canon, takes a little less space and is faster. So far I have been extremely pleased. Only disappointment was that it apparently doesn't support printing from a wireless network. I learned this by first trying unsuccessfully to make it work and then confirming with Brother Support that it won't.
Pros: Fantastic Fax, copier and printer. Cons: No Con's see great review.
I bought this for the new business it is great for faxing and copying but when I went and looked for the software for the printing it wasn't there. I called Brother's customer support they are very nice people they told me I had to get the driver from the website no problem except I was waiting on my DSL which wasn't due for about a week. Finally I loaded the driver up and even the printer works great.
Their customer support is fantastic very friendly and helpful. I will indeed buy another Brother product when the time comes. I spoke to 3 different people there. The only con and I won't list it as a con in the con box is no software CD. Brother you kick HP's AZZ!!!! Thank you for all your great Help.
Pros: Fairly fast and easy to use as long as the fax goes the first time. Cons: Inability to set the redials and interval really sucks.
Too many bugs in the system.
Overall this machine is a let down. We own two of these machines and they both have had problems. One of which we had to send for repairs. But, overall it the little things that make this a poor choice.
First off you cannot set the number of redials, or the interval between them. You get one redial after 5mins which is unacceptable.
Secondly, if you hit the redial button without removing the documents from the machine, it defaults to telephone, and will not recognize the answering fax machine.
Thirdly the toner sensor leaves an OBSCENE amount of toner left over in the cartridge, and the toner cartridge life is very short.
Lastly the when the drum life counter expired and I replaced the drum the machine would not reset the drum counter despite following the manual procedure for resetting.
Can't recommend this fax printer by gregnash,Jul 19 '06
Pros: cheap for laser printing; has Mac interface Cons: machine totally shuts down when "toner empty" sensor activates
I purchased this a 6 months ago for light duty fax work, and it has worked reasonably well: out of 1000 pages printed there were only 4 paper jams. However, yesterday it notified me that my toner was empty and I needed replacement cartridge (which I didn't have since there was no "low toner" warning). It would not function regardless of what I did even though it was printing just fine so there was in fact toner in the cartridge. I did the usual stuff-took the cartridge out, shook it, and put it back several times, but to no avail.
I called customer service and they said I had to get a new cartridge to get it working. Nothing else could be done! I was totally shut down. Furthermore, the cartridge ran out at only 1012 pages (which I pulled off the maintenance sheet), so their claims about what you're buy appear to be false.
Why they couldn't just have a "low toner" and then let the customer decide when to replace the cartridge is beyond me.
Pros: Easy set up, small footprint, great print quality, great price. Cons: I honestly can't think of a single one
I work as a consultant from home, and had until recently been resisting getting a fax machine -- frankly for no good reason other than that it seemed like there were an overwhelming number of choices. I had also been going downstairs to use my husband's laser printer when I needed to print...
Finally bit the bullet and bought the intellifax 2820... As a note, I got a factory refurbished one, because the warranty on it was actually substantially better than the warranty on a brand new machine.
I LOVE this thing. Super easy to set up. I use it most as a printer, and the print quality is fabulous -- just as good as my husband's much bigger and bulkier HP laser printer. Works well in its fax capacity as well -- has never given me any trouble with sending or receiving. Virtually never has paper jams... The ink cartridge it comes with is lasting me a good long while... Its footprint is quite small, which is another nice feature. I don't know how it would respond to very heavy use, but for a small office or a home office, this is a fantastic machine.
two in a row jammed the paper by annski,Aug 13 '08
Pros: The history of these machines is good in general Cons: I think the quality has declined or there are some lemons out there!
After using a Brother 2800 at our office for years with no problems, then a 2820 for almost 2 years, I purchased another 2820 for home several months ago--still no problems, but it is used much less than the office fax. Recently a terrible grinding noise was heard on the office 2820 (almost 2 yr. old) and it quit working. We had just installed a new drum and toner--but the lever that opens the door was broken and would not open. I took it to a repair shop and they got the drum and toner cartridges out but said the machine was not fixable. Too bad a little plastic lever messed up all those electronics!
I purchased a new 2820 from Staples a few weeks ago. The paper kept jamming. I took it back the next day and exchanged it for an identical one from Staples. The paper frequently jammed on this one also so I returned it today and asked for a refund. Well, maybe Staples had a bad lot, but I am now leery of buying any more Brother fax machines and am researching in order to try a different brand.
Pros: WHAT CAN I SAY IT IS THE BEST, WISH ALL PRODUCTS THIS GOOD. Cons: WHERE THE PAPER EXITS COULD BE BETTER, BUT OTHER THAN THAT,EXCELLENT.
I HAVE OWNED A NUMBER OF FAX MACHINES, BECAUSE OF THE BUSINESS THAT I AM IN AND I PRESENTLY OWN A PANASONIC, A SHARP AND AN OLDER MODEL BROTHER MFC 3220C.
THIS ONE IS THE BEST, IN FACT, SO GOOD, BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE TO MATCH.
