Pros: Hushed cabin, gentle ride, comfortable interior, thoughtful convenience features, low price. Cons: Bland to occupy, not at all sporty to drive. Pinched trunk pass-through. The Bottom Line: Seemingly channeling Toyota's Corolla, the Elantra has matured into a somber, sophisticated small-car bargain. If the Mazda 3's overt sportiness doesn't push your buttons, put this one on your list.

Pros: Seem to have gotten everything right. Cons: Don't put the key fob in your back pocket and sit on it. Trunk opens. The Bottom Line: This is about the most you are going to get for your money.
Update:We have now driven some 8,000 miles. No complaints. One note however. At speeds above 60 mph in intermittent crosswinds the handling is a bit "dodgy". Nothing bordering on dangerous, but you will notice a bit of a dip and swerve if you ...

Pros: Simple, clean, and attractive exterior, coupled with nicely appointed interior features. Cons: Cord attached to gas cap is too short - that's it! The Bottom Line: This is a very good car, featuring nicely equipped trims for a great price. The Elantra is an outstanding value. In fact, it feels more refined than one would expect.
I purchased a 2008 Hyundai Elantra GLS automatic in the middle of April. Since then, I have been very pleased with this product. Prior to the Elantra, I owned a 2002 Sonata GLS, which was a very nice car that I was quite happy with. Though I ...

Pros: Value, Quality, Features, Comfort, Space, Warranty. Cons: None The Bottom Line: Do yourself a big favor. Overcome your bias about the Hyundai name and give this car a look. This car is a tremendous bargain.
When shopping for an automobile most people overlook a brand like Hyundai due to the reputation of earlier models as being poorly designed, prone to mechanical problems, and having poor resale value. However, there is much information available which ...

Pros: None Cons: Poses a serious safety issue...also poor Hyundai service The Bottom Line: Do not purchase! Serious issues with these cars dying in the middle of the road without warning (see other forums).
PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS BRAND!!! I have contacted the BBB and will pursue having the dealership/Hyundai corporate return my car and pay off my loan. I had my brand-new Elantra for about 26 hours (I had driven it 100 miles since I bought it), when it ...

Pros: Fuel Economy
Large and Roomy interior
Roomy trunk Cons: The back panel of the driver's seat has popped out of it's sockets The Bottom Line: I would recommend purchasing this car. It is a good investment because of its good fuel efficiency.
After owning our old car for 10 years, my family decided to purchase the Hyundai Elantra. My family had purchased this car in the beginning of the year and we have enjoyed it very much. The car has excellent fuel efficiency and a roomy interior and ...

Love my car!

Pros: Gas mileage, trunk space Cons: A little small if you've got more than two adults and two children.
We bought our Elantra last August and we've been in love with it ever since. It gets AWESOME gas mileage... and so far, we've had absolutely no mechanical problems. There is adequate trunk space, which is often lacking in smaller cars. I love the fact that the dash lighting is blue, instead of yellow or white light - it is much less distracting to my eyes.

Pros: XM factory radio, fuel economy, warranty and interior room. Cons: Not exactly a sports car on twisty roads.
Could not be happier with my 2008 Hyundai Elantra SE. I was convinced a new Honda Civic was in my future until I started to read consumer reviews on the Hyundai and check the warranties on both cars.
Had I taken the Civic equipped the way my Hyundai is outfitted I would have paid between $2,000 and $3,000 extra.
Standard features include factory XM radio, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, audio and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Alloy wheels, leather interior with heated seats all for under $18,000.
With about 2500 miles on the clock fuel economy is about 28 city and over 35 highway. Smooth ride on the highway and nimble in the city.

Pros: Affordable. Cons: Quality issues.
I own a hyundai elantra. Its slowly falling apart. I now believe for the extra $2000 that I need to spend to get a Toyota would be worth. It costs more because Toyota is a better quality vehicle than Hyundai.

Worth a look if you want creature comforts for a bargain

Pros: Nice interior, great creature comforts for an affordable price, quiet cabin. Cons: Brakes so responsive the car feels jerky, child seat anchors not available.
After test-driving the 2008 Hyundai Elantra GLS, Hyundai deserves far more credit than it currently receives. The cabin is roomy enough for passengers, including an infant carseat, the features are newer, the interior seems much more sturdy, the ride is smooth and the brakes are so responsive that it was almost strange to drive in such an in-tune auto!
Of course, part of my review of Hyundai may be biased - my first Hyundai was a 2001 Elantra GLS that was bought used in 2002. While it certainly needs a great deal of work now before passing it on to my sister since I will now have a 2008 version, it still runs extraordinarily well. Considering the beating I have given this car (i.e. poor routine maintenance track record, excessive long-distance driving, and slight bumps and fender-benders) this car has done extraordinarily well for a low price. After the $1,000 in repairs my '01 Elantra needs, it will be nearly as good as new, which leads me to believe that the '08 Elantra is a similarly good investment for a relatively low buy-in.
