Pros: Best performance and handling in a non-M5 5, quietness, comfort, distinctive styling Cons: Price, ride can by busy with Sport Package, controversial styling The Bottom Line: The 550i is a magnificent sedan that does nearly everything very well. But the 535i is nearly as good, and costs much less.
Though it seems like yesterday to some of us, BMW has been offering a V8 engine in its midsize 5-Series sedan for over a dozen years now. And from the 1994 model year through 2007, if you wanted a BMW sedan with American-style torque, the V8 was the way ...

How can you beat 100% free maintenance
I have replaced my 2005 VW New Jetta with the 2008 BMW 535i. The Jetta was a terrific car, see my review, but I decided to get a bigger car and treat myself. I had three cars on my short list. The 535, the Audi A6, and the Mercedes CLS 550. My first ...

Pros: power, comfort, speed, looks, etc. Cons: Air coming out of aircon isn't very cold, iDrive can be cumbersome The Bottom Line: If you're serious about speed and having a wonderful time driving, this is the car for you. This car is a BMW to the core.
I bought a '08 535i near the beginning of production in May '07. Since I've had a few months with it, the initial excitement has largely worn off. Although I cannot yet comment on the service (I haven't had any experiences with that yet), the quality ...

Pros: Engine/accel, handling, seat comfort, quiet, NAV & electronics Cons: Price, MPG (so-so), need snow tires for snowy winters, low clearance w/sport pkg The Bottom Line: The best 4-dr sports sedan on the market. More emphasis on sport than luxury, but superb on both counts. Cutting edge technology & best seats you can find!
I will be getting USA delivery of the 550i w/Sport Pkg in 2 weeks - but had 10 days of great driving around Europe. Context: Living in RI, I also am leasing an '07 328xi on which my wife and I have put over 14K miles in about 6 months. These are ...

Pros: It's all about the ride -- nothing else even comes close. Cons: Amp, speakers could be better; needs equalizer; clunky audio controls; iDrive, cup holders The Bottom Line: Awesome car. Unbeatable ride.
Basic 528i has 230 hp; 6-speed automatic makes great use of the power -- it feels like more hp than it actually has. "Sport Mode" is exactly that -- delayed shifting for strong acceleration. Otherwise, shifting is very smooth. Superb handling, ...

Pros: looks, engine, suspension exclusivity Cons: expensive, but nothing else compares to its driving dynamics The Bottom Line: best midsize sedan driving dynamics, tested audi a6, merc e500,infiniti m45. None came close to this cars performance and fun factor.
I went in to buy a 535 sport and walked out with a 550 sport. I thought since the performance according to all the reviews is about the same why not save the 9k difference right. Oh was I wrong. 1st I compared a ...
