Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Solid driving performance, great on U-turn's.
Cons: Noisy engine when revved.
The Bottom Line: The Vibe offers good interior value, with a spacious ergonomic design that's fairly comfortable.

I recently went out of town on business and rented the Pontiac 2006 Vibe. Since I would be using the car for approximately one week, I wanted a car that offered good fuel economy, decent ride quality, good handling, easy to use interior ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Room, practicality, economy
Cons: Price a bit high, performance adequate but not sporty
The Bottom Line: Practical, economical grocery-getter. Price a bit high, though.

I've long been a fan of five-door hatches because of the blend of sportiness and practicality they offer. Seeing the current popularity of the new Honda Fit and Dodge Caliber, maybe the rest of the world is starting to catch on. The latest thing with ...

Powerful Engine, Great Mileage, Annoying Alarms

by naridon
Dec 30 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Strong engine, Clear gauges, Easy to use cruise, good seats, Great brakes, Great mileage
Cons: Annoying seat belt warning, Steering alignment suspect (my rental?), Windshield visibility not perfect, an SUV!
The Bottom Line: Have not tested all SUVs, but it is worth a buy if you NEED an SUV and are going to car pool.

I recently rented this car (in winter) from Manhattan from National. To start of, let me say that I was not happy that I got an SUV, but since National's office was upstairs and the garage was downstairs, I was not in a mood to have it changed especially ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Affordable, comfortable, well made.
Cons: Poor view when looking back, no tilt or cruise with this package!
The Bottom Line: This is a nicely thought out car that's comfortable and affordable to drive and affordable to own.

In the summer of 2006 my mother decided it was time to give up her 1997 Chevy Metro and do some car shopping. She offered the Metro to my college age son, and asked me to help her look over the various models. She looked at a used Ford Focus, the new ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Mileage wise, the Vibe owner gets an SUV feel for 38 miles per gallon.
Cons: 2006 upgrades addressed console height and placement, color of the dash dials, easier seat adjustment.
The Bottom Line: I loved the 2003 Pontiac Vibe, I adore the 2006 Pontiac Vibe. It is the most user friendly, easiest vehicle to maintain, and great gas mileage is just another plus!

In 2003, I wrote the review entitled; "Good Vibes!!!! Aug 12 '02 (Updated Aug 13 '02)" I am back to review the 2006 Pontiac Vibe. With this purchase, I upgraded to the leather seating. I also paid attention to the earlier critical review when ...

I am male, 50 years old, and rent many different cars. This car is not the best, and is not the worst. It is actualy better than the Civic, my last car. But not as good as Honda CRV that my wife has. I have read quite a few reviews and read that the main ...

Decent Car But Could Be Better

by rdoepker

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Great gas mileage, roomy for such a small car, electrical outlet.
Cons: Questionable reliability, paint chips very easy, sluggish, and rough on long trips.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend buying as a second car to drive back and forth to work if you can afford a cheap used one.

In May 2007 I needed to find a car for my wife that was practical but yet somewhat sporty with good MPG's. This is when we came across our 06 Pontiac Vibe. We paid 13,500 in May of 07 with 17,000 miles. The car has been great for the most part. ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Size, fuel efficiency, reliability
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Perfect smallish hatchback for us, with plenty of room for the dog & traveling!

Our 2006 Pontiac Vibe has been the perfect car for our little family. We were previously driving a sport sedan but with our 75lb dog it was getting impractical. We went in search of a sporty, dependable, fuel-efficient hatchback and settled on the ...

Vibe is decent on gas
by dhlavelle

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: good miles per gallon
Cons: no compass in the dashboard :-(
I find that I'm getting 30 miles per gallon on the vibe. While this is great after my previous car which got 16 mpg, my vibe isn't getting mileage of 35 which I had hoped for. My vibe is a 2006 and has been super dependable. I wish it had a compass like my last car, but I say overall its been a great car for me this past year. I would recommend it.

A great super around town car
by vibe06
Dec 22 '06
Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Too many to list
Cons: Life is too short to dwell on minor annoyances
I bought this car in Feb.06 and have not taken it back to the dealer other than oil changes. It is a great vehicle to drive around town.It is a snap to park due to it's tallness and best of all it's very easy to enter or exit this vehicle. It seats 4 comfortably.
With the back seats folded down I have transported a dishwasher as well as a range which saved me delivery costs.
My last car was a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Wagon so this is a considerable upgrade for me.My use for this type of vehicle is to transport my 3 dogs,German Shepherd,Sheltie cross and last but not least my Jack Russell.Unfortunately I am left with only my Jack Russell to cart around town.
I feel anyone interested in a reliable,fuel-efficient,spacious and great handling would not be disappointed in purchasing this vehicle. The only option I opted for was the automatic transmission, after all it comes with a/c,am/fm,CD player as well as a host of other features.

2006 Pontiac Vibe Does any other car make so much sense?
by brooketesta

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Everything, especially reliability, fuel economy, cargo room and comfort.
Cons: nothing
I've now owned 3 Pontiac Vibes. I've had a 2003, 2005 and 2006. I drive about 40,000 miles a year and have continued to get great incentives from my local dealer to trade up model years. I was originally attracted to the Vibe when I found out it was manufactured by Toyota and shared the same drivetrain as the Corolla.
I've owned many cars from many different manufacturers over the years. The Vibe is, by far, the most sensible one yet.
The interior is attractive and comfortable.
The cargo room is exceptionally spacious.
The ride and handling is wonderful.
Reliability is spotless as you would expect from a Toyota product
My model, with a 5 speed manual transmission is rated at 36 miles/per/gallon. I've achieved as high as 38mpg on the highway while cruising at speeds well over 85 mph.
You get all this and TOYOTA reliability at a domestic price. How can one go wrong?
