Pros: Classic Ranger Rover look, high style interior Cons: Poor chassis composure; options that might help pricey The Bottom Line: Lacks the performance and handling to justify the "Sport" label.
A while back someone who knows and enjoys high performance cars emailed me asking what I thought of the Range Rover Sport. Well, I didn't think of it much at all. But it struck me as a strange vehicle for someone like himself. It couldn't possibly be ...

Pros: Beautiful styling, smooth and quiet ride Cons: steep price, as-yet unproven Jaguar V8 in this application
I've had the 2006 Range Rover for 2 weeks now. So far I've been quite impressed. The ride is extremely quiet and the suspension absorbs bumps providing an exceptionally smooth and un-trucklike ride. I test drove a Lexus LX 470 prior to purchase and the Range Rover ride is smoother and quieter.
Acceleration is decent if not great, again better than the LX 470. The interior is exceptional, every seat is spacious and comfortable including the rear seat which has as much legroom as a 7 series BMW. The interior finishings are simply beautiful.
The stereo is acceptable but not great, my 5 series Logic7 stereo is much better.
Gas mileage is terrible. So far I'm averaging less than 11 MPG.
The navigation system is excellent, far better than my new BMW.
The purchase price is steep and you won't find anything close to the rebates offered at the US SUV dealerships, but this generation (2003-current) has had good resale, unlike previous Range Rovers which have had terrible resale due to poor quality and poor reliability.
This truly is a beautiful machine and wonderful to drive. Consider it a worthy alternative to a luxury sedan.

Pros: Drives relatively smooth Cons: Poor service, poor quality devices, poor gas mileage, not worth the money!
I truly can't say enough bad things about my 06 Range Rover. I purchased one about a year ago and completely regret this higher end purchase. Here's my list to date:
-Gas mileage is about 12 mpg. Same as my H2????
-Rear view camera quality is extremely poor. I literally think my TV in the late 70's was better quality than this.
-Customer Service in the service department of the Annapolis, MD location is poor, if not worse
-Sales staff and service department seem to get offended and like to argue with you when you complain about repair items.
-Extremely over priced when you compare the quality with the other SUV's in the 40's
-Navigation has been replaced twice. Still not working. Instead it shows that I'm driving over water in FL when I'm in Maryland!
-Problems with door locks and sensors
